We caught up with Polly Burdell to discuss her role as a Group Director at Accouter Group of Companies and how A.LONDON differs from other Interior Design Studios.
Can you tell us about a typical day as a Group Director at A.LONDON?
Working not only for A.LONDON but across the wider group of Accouter Group of Companies, enables me to have a very varied insight into the whole business. My primary focus is on Business Development, so I am regularly on calls to clients, out at meetings or site visits at new and exciting properties. I work on all levels of interior design projects from investor furniture packages, tailor-made show homes for developers and luxury interior design for private clients. I love the variation and seeing what each new week has in store. It’s great working with the designers to see what bespoke schemes they create and watching them come to life. Their creativity is boundless, and they are always looking to break boundaries and try something innovative and trendsetting.

What has been your favourite project so far?
I love the variety of all of our projects, but one of my recent favourites was our contemporary project, The W1 Townhouse in The W1 London development in Marylebone. The Miami inspired home recently won an International Property Award for Best Show Home in London. Sleek and modern, it was a great contrast to the other show homes seen previously across the development. I also love working with private clients as it’s so lovely to get to know the whole family in the process and help them turn their house into a home.
What separates A.LONDON from other interior design studios?
The flexibility of our offering is one of the key selling factors of A.LONDON. Being able to rent or purchase a bespoke, luxury interior design scheme is something that is not widely available from other interior design practices. In addition, we pride ourselves on not having an ‘in-house look’ and so love to work with our clients to bring their visions to life, with a little helping guidance along the way.
What exciting projects do you have in the pipeline?
We are working on a number of luxury show homes at the moment at two different ends of the spectrum. One in a Super Prime development in Westminster where the brief is classic, luxurious and opulent, and the other, a contemporary, colourful and more playful scheme on the outskirts of London. How do you like to unwind during the weekend?
I like to get away from my desk at the weekend and tend to spend much of my time with friends and family. I love an activity, walks around Wimbledon common, trips down to the south coast for a weekend on the water or projects around the house. I’m not very good at sitting still!
