STYLE GUIDE: 3 EASY TIPS TO MAKE YOUR HOME MORE ECO-FRIENDLY
STYLE GUIDE April 2021
Working alongside Walpole, as part of our journey to becoming a carbon-neutral company, we hope to inspire and teach our clients a greener way of life. Big or small, everyone can make a difference, so our designers have shared their 3 easy tips to make your home more eco-friendly.
“Buying antiques that you can upcycle or restore into their former glory is an easy way to make your home more eco-friendly.”
UPCYCLING ANTIQUES
Our designers take pride in sourcing local antiques for each one of our projects. Buying antiques that you can upcycle or restore into their former glory is an easy way to make your home more eco-friendly. As seen in our London show home, Lyons Place, with property developers Almacantar, as a subtle nod to the swinging 60s and 70s which inspired the project, antiques were sourced from the local Maida Vale area. Not only is this consideration giving the pieces a new lease of life, but antiques also provide an important touch of history into your home.
CLEANER AIR
Incorporating plants into the home is an easy and effective way to improve the air quality in your home. Take inspiration from our award-winning interior project, The W1 Townhouse, the designers cleverly incorporated a never-ending palm tree within the centre room of the property. Including indoor plants in your home is also proven to lift moods and boost mindfulness as well as adding a pop of colour.
LOW VOC PAINT
In addition to adding plants to your home to improve the air quality, use Low-VOC paints, such as Farrow & Ball, when decorating. In our luxury show home, Horlicks Quarter, the designers used Farrow & Ball’s Light Blue in the living room, creating a calm atmosphere throughout the space. Not only does using Low-VOC Paint, such as Farrow & Ball, improve the air quality but they also have many environmental benefits as well as reducing allergy-causing toxins.
